After failing to impress in the first ODI against Australia, Rohit Sharma made a roaring comeback by slamming a half-century in the second ODI in Adelaide. While the right-hand batter was not at his fluent best, he still managed to score runs at a brisk pace, which helped India post a score above 250. The former India skipper was a bit slow to start with, but managed to break the shackles post the power play.
In the process, Rohit achieved a significant milestone, as the opener became the first Indian batter to score 1000 ODI runs vs Australia in Australia. Notably, the batter beat Virat Kohli to go past first in the elite list. The latter is second, scoring 802 runs in 20 innings with an average of 42.21. Sachin Tendulkar, who thrived playing Down Under, scored 840 runs in 25 innings, while MS Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan complete the top five list with 684 and 517 runs respectively.

Rohit Sharma returns to form with a timely fifty
With a growing speculation of his place in the team for the ODI World Cup 2027 event, Rohit answered his critics with a wonderful fifty. The veteran took his time and mixed caution with aggression. The former skipper also stitched a valuable fourth-wicket stand with Shreyas Iyer, which steadied the Indian innings after the dismissals of skipper Shubman Gill and Kohli.
While there is no official announcement yet from Rohit whether this will be his last ODI series, the knock in the second ODI proves the experienced batter has still got in him to continue playing.
